# Pastebin oK2dDoTr 11:54 AM <~barredowl> shall we start with our first impressions, once more? 11:55 AM <~barredowl> this was a bit more coherent and appealing than the earlier tale, but as for if i enjoyed it, i'm a bit iffy. 11:55 AM <+cybersqyd> i enjoyed it less 11:55 AM <+cybersqyd> idk what it was but it just...didn't click 11:55 AM <~barredowl> mm. 11:55 AM <+cybersqyd> i think part of it is that it feels like we're shown the least interesting perspective of the story here 11:56 AM <~barredowl> i guess i liked a bit more that there was this, back-to-forth momentum which is more characteristic of dado is better. 11:56 AM <+cybersqyd> yeah 11:56 AM <~barredowl> and yeah. i can see that. 11:56 AM <%red3> I enjoyed how this used more original jokes than the last article, but I didn't like dado's character as much. In the previous tale and in a few other articles I've read, they seem to be a caricature of an ultra-capitalist who idolizes Jeff Bezos, so the joke about the hamster identifying as whatever they want seemed odd. 11:56 AM → Lt_Flops joined (uid300561@flipflo.ps) 11:57 AM <%red3> cybersqyd: What do you mean by that? 11:57 AM <@Calibri_Bold> I dunno, I thought it was interesting to get dado's perspective on this. 11:57 AM <~barredowl> yeah, that joke was... off. 11:57 AM <+cybersqyd> red3, which part? 11:57 AM <%red3> > i think part of it is that it feels like we're shown the least interesting perspective of the story here 11:57 AM <+cybersqyd> ah right 11:57 AM <+cybersqyd> i just mean that like, actually being able to see what the pharmaceuticals that dado makes did seems like it'd be more interesting 11:58 AM <+cybersqyd> and like, what motivated someone to request it from dado and like, what they actually wanted 11:59 AM <%red3> Yeah, I agree with that. We're never actually shown what happened to the beast or the man. There's also another thread in the plot about the man possibly being an agent (if I read that correctly) that's never resolved. 11:59 AM <~barredowl> these all feel kind of one-note, and i think that a lot of these are mostly reliant on how enjoyable the actual dialogue is, which, for me i'm like, ambivalent about. 12:00 PM <+cybersqyd> yeah 12:00 PM This story is certainly... fascinating. This reads more like a diary entry or a blogger blogging. Was certainly more focused on dado's ALL CAPS moment and implying his freaking caps lock key can be fixed. But as sqyd is saying, it does feel like we are getting one side of a story and dado's side isn't exactly helping at picking apart this tale. I do have a sneaking suspicion that the other side/another perspective is 12:00 PM the rival author (Seeing this is in the OCT contest, meaning kaktus worked on this from someone else's tale) 12:00 PM <~barredowl> idk. which is why i'm sorta iffy about turning dado into a tale thing. 12:01 PM <%red3> ^ 12:01 PM <+cybersqyd> yeah, i think dado can work in tales; but it feels...like you'd need a story more suited to it 12:01 PM <+cybersqyd> like, maybe something more grappling with how dado feels about being a failure more say 12:01 PM <%red3> dado doesn't really have enough of a character to have a full tale written about them. All they are are a collection of odd typing quirks, a fascination with capitalism, and strange grammar. There's really nothing else under it. 12:01 PM <~barredowl> having dado as the point of view also subtracts from this, i feel. i just... didn't enjoy being in the head-space of this person for this long. 12:02 PM <~barredowl> red3: mhm 12:02 PM <+cybersqyd> yeah 12:03 PM <%red3> There were a few funny lines after the tale turned to caps-lock, but it dragged on for too long. The frequent jokes about autocorrect also failed to impact me, especially by the fourth attempt. 12:03 PM <+cybersqyd> yeah 12:04 PM <~barredowl> i did enjoy a couple of the jokes here and there, but ultimately, it didn't mean a lot for me at the end 12:04 PM iirc, dado was used in a Wanderer's Library Project Crossover tale with "The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy cast" and most seem to enjoy his involvement in that one so evident that dado can ve used in a tale without needing to fixate on his point of view (Unless you like reading in pyrovision). Also yeah the autocorrect joke did get stale 12:05 PM <%red3> dado seems like the kind of character that needs a serious tale series. I don't know why, but I think it would definitely help his inclusion in future articles. 12:05 PM — ~barredowl shrugs 12:06 PM <+cybersqyd> yeah that could be fun 12:06 PM <~barredowl> probably 12:06 PM <+cybersqyd> really like contrast dado's humour with a dark tone 12:06 PM <@Calibri_Bold> That would be fun, especially since just having the same joke character do the same joke thing gets old fast. 12:07 PM <@Calibri_Bold> Kaktus has actually done a really great job with stuff like "angels by dado," which puts him in a much more serious and scarier setting. 12:07 PM <+cybersqyd> yeah 12:07 PM <~barredowl> oh yeah, that 12:08 PM <%red3> Overall, I'm still at a novote for this. I kind of want to upvote it, but I don't think it's good enough, it all honesty. Still better than the last tale. 12:08 PM <~barredowl> i think since this sorta, like last time, felt resoundingly meh, this'd be a light downvote from me. slightly better, but not enough to excite me. 12:08 PM <+cybersqyd> i downvoted this one 12:08 PM I'm novoting this as well but can be pushed to an upvote if people can give a good reason to updoot this 12:08 PM <+cybersqyd> it felt less enjoyable than the last one
