# Pastebin BuxZRyWg 7:03 AM vagrantc: Regarding RV32 in Debian: LatchUp is surely a pretty specific audience, but I have heard similar comments from people at FOSDEM as well. I'm planning to make an attempt at an RV32 bootstrap later in the year when the necessary prerequisites are there (RV32 glibc support is still stuck due to the y2038 problem and the ABI issues caused by that), but with the release of kernel 5.1 yesterday at 7:03 AM least the kernel side is done, so there is hope for the upcoming glibc release in August. With the recent advances in VexRiscV there is now also an open-source Linux-capable RV32 CPU that works reasonably well on hobbyist-grade FGPAs with the open-source toolchains, so there is now also an actual hardware target for an RV32 port.
